Movie Review Of "Lamhaa"

Starring Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Kunal Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Written & Directed by Rahul Dholakia. Rating: *** ½. Everyone says someone important in this document Fire of our time, made politics in the Kashmir valley. A mid policy omnipresent, thank the Lord for a creative voice that allows to study the combustion of the valley of compassion without passion. Lamhaa was one of these docu-dramas that could easily have rolled over the territory of over-information and regulatory policy. And boy, have not we seen this happen in the political life of the blockbuster movies in recent times? 'Rahul Dholakia has previously made Parzania sweet convincing the Gujarat riots, it loses its balance, even if the crisis sitiuations art history described by the attention cleverly written plot. Moderation and honesty go together in Kashmir Dholakia, We would like to believe that Kashmir is the real, pure, unamplified, intense and totally devoid of artifice.

The camera moves constantly through the dangerous and busy road bylanes tense Kashmir, where anything can happen. Filmmaker James Fowlds seems to know the Valley of the damned with the scruples of a transparent inside information that may be outside the explosive excitement of a piece of land that has quickly slipped into the stratosphere of anarchy and chaos. The script does not have high-octane space or time for tears of the innocent and the dead. Miraculously freed Lamhaa shots clear of sentimentality with openness and trust in a world where politics has become increasingly difficult for the layman to understand. Dholakia narrative moves through a maze of pain and violence without trying to take a common sense of them.

Narrative is not moral, the escalation of violence in the valley. Similarly, Dholakia too 'cinematic' in its approach to complex subject. Most of the time gives the characters have. Valley of the latent discontent comes alive in front of us a cruel policy, but toned and vicious drama. The narrative moves quickly and smoothly through the lives of the characters'. It is not always easy to tell who is right, probably because the lines are not only a moral vision of the valley, which is almost disappeared.Jannat uncertainty. Lamhaa and hears no tears for people who are so separated from the stream of Indian life, a wonderful children is wrong to speak openly and India in a different country.

Dialogues (Ashwath Bhatt) does not help, not politicians, and certainly not in the other power brokers in the films of words have become a lucrative business partnership Kashmir. At the lowest level is chaos and misunderstandings Lamhaa thoughtprovoking mirror on a piece of land that was once a paradise. At the highest level, is a document that the drama line that does not mince words or try to act cute one persistent crisis. The height is adjustable, even when the circumstances of the plot are completely out of control. As Sanjay Dutt walks through the valley of the progress we have leonina volatility for some time, as to imply Dholakia is a larger than life super-hero as the policy engine. But when Dutt melts into the fabric of a life lived wild on the board by people who have nothing to lose, nothing more.

The film is peppered with memorable appearances. Between social actors Shernaz Patel as a woman searching for her husband of 18 years leaves a lasting impact. Among the main cast as a consciousness Kunal Kapoor is a young political activist determined to bring peace in the valley and Anupam Kher as a treacherous political leader to come to death right now. But the real revelation is Bipasha Basu. In a powerful role that Shabana Azmi would have certainly played twenty years ago, Bipasha was immersed in his character which gives it a dramatic resonance in the role without resorting to cliches.

The scene where she gets torn activists are equally traumatic to see how it must have been for Bipasha to shoot. Lamhaa are not an easy film to watch. He will suffer no end decisively. It takes into account all the politics of Kashmir without fairing cons drama. This rarely excessive political theater in which each piece of the puzzle of politics and terrorism put on screen with sensitivity and precision to reject melodramatic excesses. A word of praise for the songs Mithoon. The lush lyrical melodies into a deafening explosions of bombs and cannons roar to remind us that when the best poets of Kashmir wrote poems about the beauty of the valley. Lamhaa beauty lies in its gaze on the beauty that can still see the shimmering waters of Dal Lake in a quiet and peaceful day.

Kangana Ranaut Don't Like To Blow Kisses At Fans?

I don`t like to blow kisses at my fans to show that I am a diva: Kangana Ranaut Kangana Ranaut is set for a brush with the underworld on screen once again after "Gangster". She reveals that her character in "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai" is a cross between don Haji Mastan's wife Sona and yesteryears beauty Madhubala.

"In real life Haji was a big fan of Madhubala-ji and he fell in love with Sona who looked like her. So my character is a cross between the two, " Kangana told in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

"The character I am playing has some similarities with Madhubala-ji...like the way she was a superstar and had problems in life..., " she added.

Talking about her character Rehana in the film, Kangana said: "Rehana is a very big star...she is the woman who evokes desire in everyone and then she falls in love with this gangster and discovers a new world. My character transforms from a star to a woman."

Her character might be similar to that of Madhubala but Kangana was inspired by other yesteryears heroines too for the role.

"I observed 70's actresses like Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi... they were the rebels who wore bikinis and were style icons. My character is somehow like them, " said Kangana.

Set primarily in the 1970s Mumbai, the film by Milan Luthria will trace the changing face of the underworld through the eyes of a police officer. The story follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgn), and his eventual fall when his protege Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi) challenges his supremacy and usurps power to rule the underworld in the city.

The film that releases July 30 also features Prachi Desai.

On her personal life, Kangana is candid and says she doesn't care what people think of her. And being a Bollywood diva is not really her cup of tea.

"I really don't care what people think of me and how they perceive me. That is okay with me because I don't make an extra effort to be friendly to people. I do things I like doing, " Kangana told.

"I'm a very moody person. There are times when I want to talk about my life whereas there are days I just want to be left alone, " she said.

Kangana is unlike other Bollywood stars who are interacting with fans on micro-blogging site Twitter but maintains she shares a "personal relationship" with her well-wishers.

"I don't put myself on Twitter to see how many people are crazy about me. I don't like to blow kisses at my fans to show that I am a diva. This whole idea of diva doesn't turn me on, " said Kangana.

"I share a very personal relationship with my fans and my close ones. Even when I meet people who appreciate my work, I talk to them as I talk to everyone else. That is the way I have always been, " she added.

Sameera Reddy Got Rid of Her Glamour Girl Image to Turn 'Naxalite"

I got rid of my glamour girl image to turn `Naxalite`: Sameera Reddy No make-up, no trendy clothes -- Sameera Reddy has got rid of her glamour girl image for the forthcoming movie "Red Alert-The War Within". And she admits that before signing the film she wasn't aware of the Maoist problem in the country.

"The script was really appealing since it dealt with an issue. I was not aware of the Naxalite movement a-year-and-a-half ago. I want to dedicate myself towards it now, " Sameera, 27, told.

Even though she didn't want to miss the chance of doing a different role, Sameera had to face many difficulties during the shooting.

"A transition from a simple girl to a Naxalite and picking up guns and fighting was difficult. It was also not easy to shoot in the jungles, " she said.

Director Anant Mahadevan's "Red Alert-The War Within" revolves around a cook, who falls into the Naxalite net. The film is slated to hit the screens July 9. It also stars Suniel Shetty, Vinod Khanna, Seema Biswas and Gulshan Grover, among others.

Sameera started her career with ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas' music video "Aur Aahista". In 2002, she made her big screen debut with "Maine Dil Tujhko Diya" opposite Sohail Khan. Then she went on to do films like "Musafir", "Darna Mana Hai", "Taxi Number 9211", "Race" and "De Dana Dan", among others.

In most of the films, she has played a modern woman. So was it a conscious decision to shed her glamorous image?

"It's not a conscious decision to change my image through the film. I did it because the role was appealing and challenging, " said Sameera who gelled well with co-stars Seema and Suniel.

"I got to learn a lot from Seema. Hanging out on the sets with her was a great learning experience. I also spent time with Suniel. We have done work together before, so the comfort level was always there, " she said.

And what about competition with other actors on the set?

"I compete with myself and I work harder on myself and do not follow the perception of who is big and not, " said the actress who is keen to play a double role.

"I have never done it before, but I would love to play a double role in a film. That's my dream role. Lets see when that happens, " she said.
After Red Alert, she will be seen in Nagesh Kukunoor's "Yeh Hausla".

Neetu Chandra Would Love To Do Song Like "Choli K Peecchy Kia Hai?"

I`d love to do songs like `Choli ke peechhe`: Neetu ChandraAfter attempting a mujra a la ageless beauty Rekha in "Sadiyaan", actress Neetu Chandra is yearning to set the dance floor on fire like international divas Jennifer Lopez and Shakira and prove that she can dance better than most other actresses in Bollywood.

"I am sure I can dance better than most other actresses in the film industry. But it's just that they get the chance to show their moves, " Neetu told on phone from her hometown Patna.

"Unfortunately, my choice of films has been such that they hardly have any scope for dancing numbers. But I have a long way to go and I am just waiting to get a spicy song.

"I would love to do a commercial dance number and move like Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. Their style is lovely. And any such change would be great fun for me, " she added.

The actress, who received rave reviews for her performances in National Award winning films like "Traffic Signal" and "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!", learnt Kathak in school and is currently taking lessons in western dancing.

Neetu is a huge Madhuri Dixit fan and says she would love to dance on songs like "Choli ke peechhe".

"She was a class apart. The kind of music came in her days is no longer composed in the industry. Songs like 'Choli ke peechhe' and 'Dhak dhak karne lagaa' were amazing. I would have loved to perform on those numbers. I know I can never be Madhuri Dixit, but even if people say I'm 10 percent of her, I would feel my efforts have paid off, " she said.

Among the latest numbers, the 33-year-old says she she could have done a good job in songs like "Chhaliya Chhaliya" and "Happening", originally performed by Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta respectively.

Nevertheless, she says both of them did a fabulous job.

Don't you fear being tagged as an item girl after featuring in an item song?

"I can never be tagged as an item girl because I have lost that opportunity. I never got a chance to dance. I hope filmmakers cast me for a dance number soon. All seven films that I have done have been performance based. There was no space for me to do any dance in them, " she said.

But Neetu will do an item nunber only if the script will demand so.

"All actresses - Aishwarya, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji - have all done item numbers. They can dance, but they did it only when the script required it. So I would love to do it when a script requires me to do it. I am not afraid of being put into an image of an item girl - because I keep breaking my own image with every film."

Her forthcoming projects are "Khusar Parsad Ke Bhoot", Anees Bazmee's "No Problem" and Barnali Shukla's "Kuch Love Jaisa". She also has a Tamil project in her kitty.

Jahan Bloch Will Only Wear Bikini To Become A Bond Babe

I`ll only wear a bikini to become a Bond babe: Jahan BlochThough her debut film as the heroine Krantiveer - The Revolution has bombed at the box office, Jahan Bloch, daughter of filmmaker Mehul Kumar tells Jyothi Venkatesh that she is happy that her performance has been appreciated in the film.

When I met her for this interview, Jahan insisted at the outset that filmy linage was not the reason why she got to play the character of Roshni Pratap, Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia’s daughter in Krantiveer- the Revolution, the sequel to very successful film Krantiveer.

“I have worked as a child artiste in many films like Mrityudaata, Kohraam and Aasoon Bane Angaarey and have been a regular on my father’s sets to learn more about film making and am well familiar with the other aspects like script-writing and editing. I have even played the rookie on the sets and many times managed the coordination etc”.

Jahan played the role of Roshni, a TV journalist in the film. “I saw Krantiveer many times to get into the skin of my character in the film.

I practiced reciting the fiery dialogues of Nana Patekar and if the shooting was on the next day, I made it a point to observe the tone as well as the way in which he mouthed the dialogues by playing the DVD of Krantiveer in my room at the previous night.

After all I was playing the daughter of Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia in the film and never wanted to cut a sorry figure in the set. In the film, I am shown to have inherited the passion for journalism from my mother and the nature of my father Nana since I was shown as a blunt as well as short tempered girl who does not think twice”.

Jahan admits that it helped her act with effortless ease since in real life too she happens to be short tempered. “Though I am quite sarcastic sometimes in real life, I am not tough to deal with, in spite of my short temper”, Jahan adds.

Jahan continues, “I had always wanted my father to direct me as an actress. On the sets my father was a thorough professional and very focused. My brother Zoheb Bloch assisted my father in Krantiveer-The Revolution. My eldest sister Shamim Khan, who was personal costume designer to Karisma Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar earlier, had also designed the costumes for Krantiveer and Tiranga”.

Jahan adds that Mehul Kumar is strict when he is supposed to be strict as a father but otherwise is very chilled out and friendly.

“It is not at all a disadvantage that I have a father who is a wonderful director, because he has directed wonderful actors in the past like Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Madhuri Dixit, Raaj Kumar. It was indeed a blessing to work with him in the sequel of a blockbuster like Krantiveer.

Though it is a fact that with such a big director right at home, I did not need to make my debut with an outsider director, I was in the film only after my father auditioned me for the part.”

Jahan says that her biggest plus point as an actress is that she does not like retakes at all. “My biggest minus point is that I am short.

However, I console myself by telling myself that good actresses like Rani Mukerjee, Jaya Bachchan etc are also short but have achieved a lot as actresses. It is only now that the trend of models taking up acting has started in a big way and hence most of the actresses are tall.”

Jahan is excited that though Krantiveer - The Revolution did not click at the box office, her performance has not gone unnoticed. “I have been signed for my father’s next film, which is about six youngsters. The script is getting readied.

I want to do good roles and do not have any hang up about doing only the role of the heroine. If it is a nice character, I am game to do a role which will require me to appear in only one single scene, because I am confident that I can leave an impact with my presence in that scene.”

Jahan continues, “What I mean to say is that I should be able to feel happy with my performance rather than just stand in the sidelines as a glamorous heroine.

The tragedy is that right now, in Hindi Cinema only glamour is needed and not talent. If I am offered a Bond movie, I may think of appearing in a bikini. Otherwise I am not interested in flaunting my assets in front of the camera.”

Jahan admits that she has not learnt acting from any acting school. “I do not think that acting is something which can be taught. I do not know how these schools teach acting, because everyone acts in day to day life.

Only some set out to do that in front of the camera. The reason I am crazy about acting is that when you act, it never gets monotonous because you live many lives in one life as an actress.”

Jahan confesses that she makes it a point to go to the gym every day. “I was very overweight. I lost 30 kgs through hard work and also by killing my craving to indulge in sweets, to get into the skin of my character in Krantiveer - The Revolution.”

When I asked Jahan why did not she steal the limelight when Krantiveer - The Revolution was being made, she shot back honestly.

“I feel that too much of publicity is equally bad. I just cannot cook up stories just to remain in the limelight. In any case, when I see all around relationships crumbling like anything, I am quite happy that I am single and not involved with any person now. I do not feel that there is any Mr Right or for that matter Miss Right in this world.”

Jahan is quite religious. “I have a lot of time in the world to do my namaaz five times a day. It calms me down and is also a way of exercise.

I remember during the song picturisation of khuda mere khuda in Pataya, Sanmeer Aftab and I had to stand on a small one foot by one foot stone structure in the sea.

However, nobody in the unit realized that with high tide water lashing over the stones, I and Samir were happily giving the romantic shot standing over those small squares of stone in the middle of deep sea. Suddenly we realized that water level was rising and within minutes it was over the stones.

In no time the water level increased so much that the entire area was submerged. We two along with the cameraman Fuwad Khan got stuck in the water. Other crew members had to rescue us by rope. While waiting to be rescued all three of us were singing khuda mere khuda.”

Bhansali & Mani Take Aishwarya Rai's Acting Abilities Seriously

Bhansali and Mani take my acting abilities seriously: Aishwarya RaiAishwarya Rai Bachchan speaks to Subhash K Jha on Raavan, Abhishek Bachchan and Mani Ratnam...

Raavan has been a gruelling experience for you?
Why just me? Everyone in the film has gone through an equal amount of hardships to create a film we all believe in. There we were, getting drenched in the rain, and Mani Ratnam, Santosh Sivan...everyone was there facing the weather.

We were all friends in the project. Everyone was there for one another. We could joke say it was like an adventure sport, or a video game while we were making our way through the most impossible conditions. But we knew what the truth was.

Were you prepared for the severe hardships when you read the script?
It was still a bit of shock and surprise when we had to face the climactic conditions in the jungles. On top of that Mani loves to make on-the-spot changes. He improvises all the time.

He doesn't want to strictly follow the written word. He's a master of creating magical moments out of the seemingly ordinary. What he does is incredible. Just the pleasure of working with him again (after Iruvar) was amazing.

But for a lady to be climbing those slippery rocks ….
Really (laughs) we didn't know how slippery those rocks would be. There was this huge waterfall where we shot a lot. One never thought one would leap down those heights in and around the waterfall. Of course we were wired.

But once you're going down there's no control. The rocks were so mossy, we had no control over our movements. We were climbing so close to the waterfall we could feel its power. It was the power of Nature in all its glory.

How could you focus on emoting while doing such dangerous stunts?
That's magic of the camera, the magic of cinema. As for getting the emotions right, you know Mani Ratnam. Do you think he would relent until he got the emotions he wanted? We'd go through the most incredibly impossible scene.

Then he'd come up to us and say, 'I've got a better idea. Let's do the whole thing again.' I was like, 'Are you for real? Do you know what we're doing? And we've another version to capture before the light fades.' I'd do it in Hindi and then do it all over again in Tamil.

Was the scale of your emotions higher in Tamil?
I haven't seen the Tamil film. No time! The nuances alter from one language to the same. But the emotions were the same. Some of the lines were changed to show a difference in culture.

What would seem theatrical in Hindi is natural in Tamil. But I didn't consciously move into a different zone in the two languages. Our camereman Santosh Sivan was so innovative. The changes in lighting and mood were done by him.

He was having a party while we were trying to get it right in two languages. He doesn't only create fabulous images. He creates a magic in the language of the film. You can be sure that Mani and Santosh will together bring it all together finally.

You know, Manikandan was doing the cinematography earlier. But you can't tell where and when Santosh took over.

You actually dubbed your own lines in Tamil?
Oh yes, as far as dubbing is concerned I've come a long way. I remember during my first film Iruvar in Tamil, I panicked at the language. Now of course I am far more confident. But two films simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil meant pressure full-on.

Until we were on the sets none of us knew what pressures we were getting into. After a while Mani was giving me scenes on the sets. Then he'd humour me saying, 'Come come let's do it.'It was the toughest thing I've ever done.

I'd be standing there, having just completed a harrowing scene with Abhishek, and then without a minute's pause I'd have to do the same scene with Vikram. We were all passionate about the project to the point of being obsessive.

Everyone in the crew was there in the jungles throughout. We would tell one another that we were on a picnic or a safari adventure. But we knew what we were going through.

Would you do it again if you have to?
While we were shooting Raavan we felt the situation was impossible and we didn't know how we'd get through it. But now that we did …yes, I'd do it again!

Just before the film's release we all met up and and we kept looking at each other thinking the same thing. 'Is it all done already?' And we kept saying, 'We can do it any time again.' And Mani was like, 'You guys are crazy.'

You feel ill with serious viral infections during the film?
It just got widely reported. Even Abhishek and Vikram fell ill. These things happen when working under tough conditions. Mani got it. His wife Suhasini visited us. And she too got it. Such things do happen specially when you have to remain drenched from head to toe.

During childhood we were taught to keep our head dry. And here I was getting drenched from early morning till late night. There was no point in drying myself because I was soaked in seconds.

Curiously you shot with two of the finest directors Mani Ratnam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali almost simultaneously, Mani completely outdoors and Sanjay fully on the sets. And both so fulfilling in their own way. Let me tell you, I consider myself blessed. I've worked repeatedly with both. And both have taken my acting abilities seriously.

Why Should Abhishek Change Himself For Aishwarya Rai

Why should I change myself for Aishwarya: AbhishekWhen spotted together it is evident that they are very much in love -- and Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has no qualms in saying that his wife and actress Aishwarya Rai is very supportive and encouraging.

"Aishwarya is very supportive and encouraging. She is a very chilled out person and doesn't take things to heart, " Abhishek told.

"People ask me if I changed after marriage. But I just say 'Why should I change?' Aishwarya loves me the way I am and married me for the way I am. Then why should I change at all, " he added.

Abhishek and Aishwarya announced their engagement Jan 14, 2007 and the couple tied the knot April 20 that year. The wedding took place in a private ceremony at the Bachchan residence Prateeksha in Juhu, Mumbai, but made headlines everywhere.

It was rumoured that Aishwarya would leave her acting career after marriage, owing to the popular belief that married actresses don't do well in the industry.

But the 36-year-old actress squashed all rumours and continued to be a part of the film industry.

Even her husband Abhishek, 34, feels proud that his wife was able to break the age-old notion. "I feel great about Aishwarya's achievements, I'm very proud of her. Whatever adulation she has got, she truly deserves it, " he said.

"I'm happy that she broke the notion that women can't work after marriage. Why are we so regressive in our thinking? If she wants to work, her audience wants to see her. What is people's problem? I as a husband am very happy that she is doing so well. I think she is doing better work now, " Abhishek said.

The couple has done many films together before and after their marriage. These include "Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke", "Kuch Naa Kaho", "Umrao Jaan", "Dhoom 2", "Guru" and the recently released "Raavan".

Sonam Is Bruna Abdullah's Boyfriend's Best Friend

Sonam is my boyfriend`s best friend: Bruna AbdullahBrazilian model Bruna Abdullahh has been a VJ, done an item-number and also featured in a reality show. But destiny, she said, knocked only when she got the big screen break in "I Hate Luv Storys".

"When I packed my bags for Mumbai, all I knew was that I wanted to be a model. Not even in my faintest dreams had I dreamt about grabbing a role in such a big project. I just don't know exactly how I am here, but I guess it was destined," Bruna told in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

The 23-year-old started her career as a model and then hosted a show called "India's Hottest" for Channel V. She then featured in an item-song "Rehem Karen" in "Cash", but an unexpected call from Punit Malhotra, director of "I Hate Luv Storys", changed her life.

"When I went to meet Punit, I was nervous because I was expecting someone senior to me. But I got the shock of my life when I saw a very young lad, dressed in a funky T-shirt, rugged jeans and sneakers," said Bruna.

As the model hails from Brazil, her Hindi is not so perfect, but she taught herself by watching Hindi movies and listening to Bollywood songs.

"At the audition, Punit gave me a script. He wanted me to deliver the dialogues in Hindi. I requested him to give me a day to rehearse, so that I can give my best shot. I understand the language, but speaking was difficult."

"When I had come to India, I couldn't understand the language. Everything sounded same to me. But I can proudly say that I am learning and it is going to be much better in coming years," she added.

So how was it sharing space with Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan, who are in the lead roles.

"Well I knew Sonam ever since I landed in India. She is my boyfriend's best friend. So working with her was fun. She was very encouraging and sweet," said Bruna.

"Imran is a very shy guy like me. But he has got this great sense of humour. He always used to play pranks on others. You know what, Avantika (Imran's fiancee) is a real sweetheart. She used to come and light up the sets. She is very lively. Thanks to her, sets used to be real fun."

Don't you think you were overshadowed by the lead stars in the movie.

"Well, when I met Punit, he had made it clear that I have a very small role in the film, but it is a very important character. So there is no question about disappointments," she said.

"And to tell you frankly, I have learnt a lot through this movie. How the camera works, what angle you should be taking. Movie making is a lot of hard work."

What next?

"Right now I am enjoying every moment of it. I am a very shy person and when I saw myself on the big screen for the first time, I felt good...and I hope that people do like me in it. I don't know exactly what next after this. But I just hope there is something nice in store for me."

Emraan Hashmi Don't Blame Shruti Hassan For Being Afraid of Serial Kisser

I don`t blame Shruti Haasan for being afraid of `serial kisser` like me: Emraan HashmiEver wondered why Emraan Hashmi is so often paired opposite young actresses? It's because he's discovered lady luck in these new heroines and, as he says, "it makes some great on-screen chemistry and works for the film".

"Most of my successful films have been with new actresses and young girls, " Emraan told in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.

The 31-year-old will be wooing one-film-old Prachi Desai, 21, in thriller "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai", debutante Neha Sharma, 22, in "Crook: It's Good To Be Bad", 24-year-old Sagarika Ghatge in "24x7 Raftaar" and Shruti Haasan, 24, in Madhur Bhandarkar's comedy "Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji".

"All these girls are extremely talented. Some of them are very new faces and there is always a want and a need by the audience to see fresh faces. It has worked in my films earlier and definitely worked for the audience too to see me paired opposite them, " he said.

Emraan's stint with younger actresses started with "Zeher" in 2005 in which he romanced then both one-film old Udita Goswami and Shamita Shetty. He then wooed Tanushree Dutta in her debut project "Aashiq Banaya Apne".

He then starred opposite Nisha Kothari, debutante Geeta Basra and Isha Sharvani, who were all 22 years old at the time in "The Killer", "Dil Diya Hai" and "Good Boy, Bad Boy".

Emraan also acted opposite 23-year-old Sayali Bhagat in her debut project "The Train" (2007) and then with 24-year -old Shriya Saran in "Awarapan" the same year. He then starred with debutante Sonal Chauhan in hit "Jannat" in 2008.

The actor, however, considers his pairing with Kangana Ranaut, 23, as the most fortunate.

"Kangana and I have given a few hits together like 'Gangster' and 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues' and now we are starring in 'Once Upon...'. That's a successful pair for me, " he said.

Does the actor wish to continue the on-screen pairing with Kangana?

"I don't see films that way. It is the distributors, trade analysts and the industry experts who measure it that way as to which on-screen couple the audience likes, " he said.

"My aspiration is to do a great film as a great character and there are wonderful actresses out there. Everyone is doing great work, so I'd like to get paired opposite all of them, " he added.

What about his infamous 'serial kisser' image?

"That really doesn't bother me any more. Everyone is doing it in movies now.

For some reason, people have put this image, but if it's a requirement of a film, it has to be done, " he said.

Rumours were rife that Shruti was apprehensive of being paired opposite him for his kissing tag, which Emraan takes with a pinch of salt.

"That's nothing new. I don't really blame anyone. It's a very intimidating image for people and if she is scared, I don't blame her, " he said.

The actor, however, confirmed that there are kissing scenes in his upcoming films.

"I won't really give out the names of the films, but there are kissing sequences in some of them, " he said.

So does the experienced actor ever have to give pep talks to the young actresses before doing intimate scenes?

"No. All of them are very bright and I don't need to give them any advice. They are intelligent enough and know the requirement of the film and the script and they pull it off on their own, " he said.

Emraan's future projects also include an action thriller with Milan Luthria for Kumar Mangat.

Prachi Desai Clearly Told That She Will Not Kiss Emraan Hashmi

I was clear I wouldn`t kiss Emraan Hashmi: Prachi DesaiPrachi Desai will do a Bobby (a la Dimple Kapadia) for her next, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.

Says a source, "In the film, Emraan Hashmi plays a gangster based in Dubai, who's obsessed with Dimple Kapadia.

In the film there's a song where Emraan and his girlfriend (played by Prachi Desai) watch Bobby and then Emraan gifts her Dimple's outfit.

It's a passionate sequence which has Emraan and Prachi getting drawn to each other. Initially, the demure Prachi was reluctant to wear the bold outfit but the director Milan Luthria managed to convince her."

Prachi, says, "Emraan's called Shoaib in the film. I play his conservative Muslim girlfriend Mumtaaz. Bobby was a big hit at the time the movie was set in. Shoaib is inspired by multiple real life personalities and one of them had a fascination with Dimple's Bobby persona. Hence Emraan is seen gifting me outfits due to his fascination with Bobby."

Prachi says she was initially hesitant, "Dimple looked so gorgeous that I didn't want to be compared to her but Milan convinced me. In fact, Milan gave us a month to work on our bodies for the song. While he wanted Emraan to flaunt his six-pack in the song, he wanted me to tone down my body."

She adds, "The scenes were shot over few months. Emraan is one of my fav co-stars and I am most comfortable with him. I was clear we wouldn't kiss, though."

Katrina Kaif Will Be With Us?

Katrina will be with us in spirit if not in personKatrina Kaif's plans to fly down to Mumbai for a day to celebrate the Raajneeti success on June 23 from Spain where she is shooting for Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara have been dropped.

Apparently inclement weather has made it impossible for her to be let off for even a day. Setting aside her habitual work-comes-first-party-later attitude she even requested the film's producers and director to accommodate her absence for less than day.

Says a source close to Katrina, “Since Prakash Jha was very very keen to have her down to Mumbai for the bash, and had even made all the arrangements for her flight, Katrina was not willing to give up the idea of attending the function.

She offered to be back in less than 24 hours. Katrina was willing to fly to Mumbai, attend the Raajneeti bash on Wednesday and fly out quickly the same night to re-join the Dobara team the next morning. But she is not allowed.”

The Raajneeti team has a lot to celebrate about. But Prakash Jha wanted no celebration until his lucky mascot Katrina Kaif was available.

Unfortunatley Zoya Akhtar's crew has been facing rough weather ever since they arrived in Spain. Apparently 6 days of shooting had to be cancelled because of heavy rains. And now they need to make up for lost time quickly since their work permits and visas would expire.

Prakash Jha admits that Katrina would be unable to make it to the Raajneeti celebration party on June 23. “They've lost a lot of time because of the rain in Spain. I couldn't dream of having a Raajneeti bash without Katrina. And I had postponed it until her availability. But now it's impossible for Katrina to fly down.”

Prakash will now record a video message with Katrina and play it at the party. “So she will be with us in spirit if not in person, ” he smirks.

Katrina on the other hand tried to sound diplomatic and non-disappointed. “It is a big day. And the success of Raajneeti is very precious to me. But I can't leave the crew in Spain.”

She admits there're lots of unscheduled breaks. Katrina has got one of her sister Melissa to join her in Spain to give her company at break time.

Says Katrina, “London is just two hours, so Melissa could join me. Mumbai is in another hemisphere. Flying down is impossible. Please tell Prakashji, Mera party baqi raha.”

Minissha Lamba Caught With Her New Boyfriend

Minissha Lamba caught with a new boy!The actress was spotted with a naya guy

Has Minissha Lamba finally snagged a boy? The actress was recently spotted outside the venue for Ekta Kapoor's party on Wednesday night with a handsome young bloke.

Her smiling face did all the talking for the petite actress.

"The two were quite close. The actress kept leaning into him and as the photogs clicked away, became conscious of the attention she was drawing to herself, even as the guy held her close. She eventually tried to shield her face from the glare of the flashbulbs", reveals an onlooker.

When asked about the guy in the pictures, Lamba says, "He's a very good friend who was already at Ekta's party and came down to escort me inside. I am single and am not dating anyone."

Censor Cleared Aruna Shields' Nude Love-Making Scenes

Censor clears Aruna Shields` Nude Love-Making scenesLondon's desi import Aruna Shields who was last seen cavorting with Vivek Oberoi in Prince has bettered her score in her second Hindi film. In Mr Singh Mrs Mehta she has bartered the bikini for her birthday suit.

Though the censorboard has generously passed all the nude scenes and torrid love sequences between Aruna Shields and Prashant Narayanan in Pravesh Bhardawaj's Mr Singh Mrs Mehta with an 'A' certificate the director's wife Shruti Nagar (who works with Rajshri Productions) has objected to the way the director has repeatedly caught the couple in intimate postures all across the film.

There are three lengthy love-making scenes in Mr Singh Mrs Mehta. The wife feels her director-husband has over-done the sex and nudity.Apparently she has made her displeasure amply clear to her husband.

Says Pravesh, “There is one particular love- making sequence to which my wife Shruti reacted very strongly.Yes, Shruti did object saying, 'Ek aadh scene hota to koi baat nahin par yahan to puri film iske hi ird-gird ghoom rahi hai'.

She was very upset about the subject matter itself. There is a sequence in the film where Neera (Aruna Shields) undresses in a way that her clothes come off one by one. Shruti, my wife thought I should tone it down or not make a career selling nudity.”

Pravesh did reconsider his approach to nudity kissing and love-making. “It did make me rethink but it was a critical sequence in the film. I think she is upset that her husband made a film where nudity is central to the story itself. Actually she doesn't approve of the script and the reason being nudity.”

The director admits the nudity content is over-the-top. And the censors suggested that the ladies' bare back be blurred. “She is naked but wherever her derriere got exposed we had to blur it out.

A couple of censor members who were divided in their opinion wanted to go back on their decision and cut it out. But I think they realised that the psychological impact was not diluted.

We agreed on blurring the butt. For me nudity is the drama not the visibility of genitals. And the psychological impact is not diluted. I am happy with the end- result.”

The director hopes that the bare flesh is not misconstrued to be meant for titillation. “The film has been written for the average Indian viewer. I know I am taking a risk and I hope they get the point. otherwise I fail. but I am confident it gets across.”

Another sequence where Aruna Shields poses nude for her painter-lover has also been passed uncut.

Heaving a sigh of relief Pravesh says, “Ashwin (Prashant) has seen her naked. So Neera (Aruna) the muse is naked.

And I didn't want the sequence to be like the one in Titanic which was removed from the Indian version. The sequence is quite long and Neera is naked in the entire painting sequence.

Certain shots where her back is visible have been blurred but nothing had to be deleted from the film. Idea is not to provoke but to make it acceptable in our minds without making her a slut in the film.”

Pravesh feels the censorboard has demonstrated a deep maturity in passing the film. “We did have more than one revising committee screenings and lots of anxious moments. But if you ask me I would like to send a bouquet to censor board. No scene has been snipped.”

The actress Aruna Shields (earlier seen with Vivek Oberoi in Prince) agreed to go nude. “Naturally, she's posing for a nude painting. I am quite relieved that film was cleared. I was very nervous and afraid as people around me started counting the kisses also.

I did not have the budget to shoot alternate shots so depending on the clearance either I had a film on hand or none. I have shot the film in a certain manner where cutting out a sequence or faster cutting of certain scenes would have killed my narrative style. I want to be with 'world cinema'.

The biggest creative risk that I have taken is to have just four characters in the film. The film is shot with a hand- held camera keeping in mind the intimacy of story telling. A lot of scenes are done in long takes.

So if I had to snip a few scenes it would have been totally odd. In the final scene the nude scenes must be around ten odd minutes or more.”

Meghna Naidu Got Pregnant?

The hacker who got Meghna Naidu `pregnant`!Actress Meghna Naidu complained to the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell in Mumbai this week, about a hacker who got her ‘pregnant’.

Unknown to the actress, a hacker had breached her Gmail account a few weeks ago and was chatting away with her friends, falsely claiming that Meghna ‘was pregnant from a fling with a guy whose name she couldn’t remember’ and that she ‘needed advice’. How imaginative!

But when this impersonator said hello to the actresses’ ex-publicist Dale Bhagwagar on the chat, the PR specialist sensed something fishy about the way Meghna was chatting.

“PRs specialize in understanding the psyche of their clients. I take special efforts and time to comprehend how each client thinks, feels, behaves and talks.

This person on chat had a subtle devilish sarcasm, and as I know Meghna, she’s cool and clear, but hardly sarcastic,” said the publicist. So immediately after the chat, Dale called her residence to verify if it was Meghna on the chat, and her parents told him, she had gone for her yoga class.

When the actress returned the call an hour later, she was shocked to learn about the conversation. Meghna said, “I was paranoid when I checked my Google chats.

This imposter had been chatting with a lot my friends and claimed I was pregnant out of a fling. To add to this craziness, he wrote, I’d forgotten the name of the guy who made me pregnant. All this bogus talk was insane and scary.”

The publicist calmed the horrified actress and guided her to change her email privacy settings and escorted her to the Crime Branch the next morning. “We complained at the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell. Sadly and strangely, the cops there didn’t seem to be much interested about my case,” lamented Meghna. “I hope they are able to track the hacker,” she added.

Koena Mitra Said Show Any Couple Who Don't Kiss?

Show me one couple that don`t KissKoena Mitra is one of those select few actresses in the industry, who has been an epitome of sensuality right from her foray into Bollywood. Announcing 'Khullam Khulla Pyaar Kare' pretty much loud and clear more than seven years ago in 'Road' (2002), Koena, has indeed come a long way.

No wonder, her sensibility and maturity makes her feel amused about the entire hoopla that is created when actors kiss on the screen or expose for the camera.

"I guess we should move out of this mentality and do it real fast. The way the media reacts to something as common as kissing is really strange", says Koena in an exasperated tone.

"In Hollywood, kissing is no big deal at all. If Richard Gere kisses on screen, no one goes and pulls him up by saying that he is doing something odd because he is older today.

But here in India, we end up making such a big deal about it even if a young couple is kissing. Come on, show me one couple that doesn't kiss?

Not just that, I think we also make so much hoopla when someone wears a bikini", continues Koena who is quite pleased with the way she has been presented on the screen so far.

Koena is particularly amused when actors themselves enjoy the mileage that they gain after doing a kissing scene for a film.

Smiles Koena, "The moment the media asks an actor a question around the 'experience' of a kiss or whether he/she was comfortable doing the scene, some of us jump at the opportunity and come up with these quotable quotes.

It's one thing to kiss and another to go and actually start discussing about it on national television. Now how amusing can that get."

Well, looking at the way Koena thinks that Bollywood should move ahead, rest assured that there would be many more quotable quotes following from the fraternity.

Ex-Boyfriend Speakning About His Relationship With Viveka Babajee

Shocked ex-boyfriend speaks on his relationship with Viveka BabajeeTwo years after his brea- up with super-model Viveka Babajee, writer-director Rohit Jugraj (assistant to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ram Gopal Varma and director of the well-received feature film Superstar) was shell-shocked on Friday when news of his ex-girl’s suicide came to him.

Rohit rushed to the deceased girl’s sister and brother-in-law’s place where he remained until Saturday morning when the police did its questioning and the body was taken away.

“It’s too shocking. I’ve been up almost all night, ” groggy and grieved, Rohit spoke up on Saturday morning. “Why would she do something like this?

She wasn’t the kind to take her own life. She was too spirited to do something like this. At least that isn’t the Viveka I remember.

Maybe that’s the way I want to remember her. She came from Mauritius to pursue her dreams. It takes courage to leave a small country and come to a big city like Mumbai. And she achieved what she did on her own.”

Rohit met Viveka while he was directing his first film James. “I met her through her male cousin who was a very dear friend of mine. We were in a very serious relationship for two years. We broke up in 2007. But we weren’t engaged.

There were too many differences between us. We were two different people. The breakup was not traumatic. We parted by mutual consent. It took me a while to get over her. But we moved on by mutual consent.”

Speaking on their relationship Rohit said, “We broke up without bitterness. It was just not working out. She was in other relationships after that. We didn’t really keep in touch. We both needed space to move on.But I’ve been in constant touch with her mother in Mauritius.”

Surprisngly Viveka never asked for Rohit’s help to get into the glam world. “She was a very strong girl. She made a career for herself in Mumbai and bought property in Mauritius. She bought a very nice home for her mother in Mauritius.

She was not visible as a model in her last three years because she had changed her main line of work from modeling to choreography because modeling was very time-bound. She then shifted to events management.”

“ I remember all the good times we shared together. I can’t think of a single unpleasant incident.I expected us to get married. But it didn’t work out.I always wished her well. I’d like to believe we had remained friends. She had a very supportive circle of family and friends. So I wonder why she did something so drastic.”

Says Rohit, “Viveka’s sudden death is an eye-opener to me. You never know which way life will take you. I’ve just begun to discover myself.”

At the time of writing Viveka’s mother had not arrived from Mauritius. It was still to be decided whether the body would be flown to Mauritius after autopsy. Viveka’s sister is visiting Mumbai with her husband who’s a Mumbai-based Gujarati.

Says Rohit, “I have’t had the courage to speak to Viveka’s mom yet. What will I tell her?”

Rohit doesn’t know Viveka’s last boyfriend “I heard about Gautam Vohra only yesterday after Viveka’s death. I heard she met him in Goa, that’s all I know. On Friday he was untraceable. His phone was unreachable.”

Commenting on models like Nafisa Joseph and Viveka ending their lives Rohit says, “It’s like that film Fedora. All of us in show business live hollow insecure lonely lives. We’ve to watch our backs.”
