The two got along well." Apparently Asin met Kajol for the first time during the Ghajini shoot. "The two happened to be shooting in the same studio. Asin was shooting for Ghajini, while Kajol was shooting for Toonpur Ka Superhero.

Asin went up to Kajol when she got to know she was in the same vicinity. The two have known each other since then."

Politician Amar Singh is now the script advisor of a Bengali film, Sesh Sanghat (The Last Conflict), in which he will also be acting. The film is based on Bengal’s present situation– a struggle between the landless and land grabbers.

Jaya Prada will be playing the lead role in the film and is also the producer. Singh’s role will be that of an ex-minister in Bengal who understands the tribal movement and supports it by guiding a police officer who is dealing with the issue, played by Jackie Shroff.

Singh doesn’t want to turn into a fulltime actor. He defends himself saying that he likes movies so he cannot refuse actors he has grown up watching. And since Jaya Prada is associated with him and his party (Samajwadi Party), he couldn’t turn her down.

According to the director of the film, national-award winner Ashok Vishwanathan, Singh was very useful as he helped them out with the technical and official language that needs to be used in the film. He also helped in explaining the issue of land acquisition and tribal rights. Singh has previously done a few cameos in Bollywood films.

Sonakshi Sinha Got In Shape For Salman, How?

Not that Shatrughan Sinha has allowed Salman Khan to launch his daughter Sonakshi as a leading lady in Arbaaz Khan directorial Dabangg, the brawny star is taking his duty as the protective guardian very seriously.

Thankfully for him, the burden of carrying the star-daugter on his able shoulders is much lighter now as Sonakshi has slimmed down from 90 kg to 60 kg. Salman has been giving her step-by-step advice on her career. He has not only advised Sonakshi to lose more weight, he has also told her not to do too many films at the same time.

How did she manage to lose so much? “It took two years of hard work, determination and will power. It was a combination of proper diet and vigorous exercise that got me to the shape, ” she says, “I did weight training four to five times a week along with cardio. I eat small meals every three hours to keep me going."

Sonakshi plays a village girl in the film and has been doing her homework to prepare for the character.

"Other than working on my weight, I've been preparing by observing people and trying to pick up nuances. I play a village girl who is dabangg (fearless) in nature. Also, my director, Abhinav, and I have been rehearsing the script so that I am prepared once on the sets, "she tells.

Dad Shhotgun is bowled over by Salman’s concern for her daughter.

“Salman understands the way to work better than we did. So we have full faith in him. He is making sure Sonakshi has the best possible launch. I allowed her to get into films on his persistence and Salman has taken upon himself the responsibility to make sure she emerges from her debut with our family name and her dignity intact, ” said Shatru.

Sonakshi starts shooting for her debut film Dabangg on November 6 opposite Salman Khan.

Shamita Will Be Able To Attend Shilpa's Marriage

There’s a chance that Shamita may not be able to attend her sister’s wedding. According to highly- placed sources at Colors there seems to be no provision to get a contestant out of a game show for a wedding.

Hard as it may be to believe, Shilpa Shetty’s kid-sister now locked away in Bigg Boss, is oblivious of the momentous developments in her star-sister’s life.

Says a highly-placed Colors source, “Shamita has not been told anything about Shilpa’s engagement or the marriage in the last week of November. As far Shamita knows the marriage was supposed to happen in December after the show was over.”

Now that Shilpa has approached the channel to evict her sister in time for the wedding—and a meeting between the two parties is on the cards this weekend—the channel bosses are at a loss as to how the rules can be bent to get Shamita out of the Bigg Boss house.

Says the source, “There’s a provision for a house-mate to be brought out in a case of an extreme emergency. It happened with Jade Goody last year. But does a sister’s unscheduled wedding qualify as a family crisis? We’re now wondering if the same rule as Jade can be applied to Shamita’s case.”

The international Big Brother rules are being consulted. If there’s no provision for a contestant to leave the game for a family wedding, them Shamita Shetty may not get the permission to leave Bigg Boss house for the wedding!

This however seems improbable, considering Shilpa’s old relations with the reality show. (She was contestant on Bigg Brother and hosted Bigg Boss 2).

Says the source from Colors, “After meeting Shilpa this weekend we’ll work out a strategy on Shamita’s eviction.”

According to plans if rules apply, Shamita’s eviction will be done live. “If an unexpected turn of events helps us boost our TRPs we’re certainly not shy of putting it on camera. We did with Jade Goody. We’ll do it with Shamita.”

The pop philosopher of the show Amitabh Bachchan is expected to do the needful. He will be breaking the news of Shilpa’s engagement and impending marriage to Shamita.

“The rest is up to Shamita. Once we’re sure she can be evicted whether she decides to come out or stay in the House is entirely her decision, ” ends the channel source.

Jacqueline Fernandes Hoping To Reach Katrina Kaif's Level

Her debut movie Aladin is set to clash with London Dreams on the box office, but Srilankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandes says that she cannot wait to watch the star studded musical as she is a huge fan the film's leading lady, Asin Thottumkal.

The 23-year-old who plays a modern day 'Princess Jasmine' in the fantasy flick said that she is not wary of the competition and instead respects Asin as a "flawlessly talented" actress.

"Asin is an extremely talented actress. I have just seen her in Ghajini and also the ads that she does. She is flawlessly talented. If I started looking at everyone and everything as a competition and a threat how am I going to enjoy what I am doing, " Fernandes said.

The two films, both star studded projects with big budgets are set to clash at the box office on October 30. While London Dreams includes Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and Asin in it's starcast, Aladin has none other than Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt playing the leads.

"The competition is great. I can't wait to watch London Dreams myself. We have two great films lined up for the weekend and it is great for the audience, " said Fernandes.

"I can actually imagine everything she is going through. Sometimes when I read the papers and all kinds of stuff is written. It's unbelievable how the media can fabricate a story out of nothing, " said the actress who has been linked to various men including actors Riteish Deshmukh Vivek Oberoi and Abhay Deol.

But the debutante is keen to fore go the gossip and focus on her career and said that she aspires to reach the same level as current leading lady, Katrina Kaif.

"I am not going to be choosy as an actor at this stage in my career. If tomorrow a crazy comedy comes my way, I will do it and if a arty film is offered to me, I will do that too.

I hope to reach the same level as Katrina Kaif and just be able to create my own league, " said Fernandes who has no fear of being overshadowed in her debut by her stalwart co-stars.

"If I was given the choice between a project like Aladin where I get to work with people like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt to a smaller project where I would have grabbed all the limelight, I would have chosen the former, " said the actress.

Fernandes will next be seen in another fantasy romance by Nikhil Advani with Aladin co-star Riteish Deshmukh.

Kareena - Abhishek Razi?

Kareena Kapoor seems to be on a patch up spree. Recently, when Kareena was on air for an exclusive interview with a TV channel, she was unperturbed and answered every question related to her past relationship with Shahid.

When asked if they are still in contact, she answered candidly, “No, we are not in touch. Shahid and I shared a wonderful relationship in the past, the least we can do is wish each other well. At least I know I do that from my side.”

But the story doesn't end here. After wishing her ex-flame well, she is now ready to mend ties with Bachchan junior as well.

Buzz is that the two have been signed for Abbas-Mustan’s untitled film, a remake of the Hollywood film, Italian Job. The movie will also star Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh in lead roles.

According to a source the director duo initially approached Saif Ali Khan to star with Bebo for the role but he did not have dates and he was replaced by Abhishek Bachchan.

Both actors made their acting debut together in Refugee and have been in the industry for years but have only starred together in two films till date.

While Kareena’s manager Zahid denies that she has signed the film, a source close to Abbas Mustan says, “The directors always had Kareena in mind and now they have managed to get Katrina on board too. The film will go on the floors in April and like every Abbas Mustan film, this too will also be shot on a lavish budget at international locations. The directors are clear about who they want to cast in the film.”

The Italian Job (2003) rights are with Studio 18. CEO Sandeep Bhargava of Studio 18 says, “We have the rights of Italian Job. Abbas Mustan are working on the script and will also direct the film. The movie will go on the floors sometime next year.”

Movie Review Of "Love Ka Tadka"

Starring: Sameer Dattani, Nauheed Cyrusi and Satish Kaushik
Directed by: Rajan Waghdhare
Rating: *

A baseless film with no storyline is what Love Ka Tadka is. What else do you expect from a film that revolves around vegetarian and non-vegetarian food habits? So, it’s definitely not recommended but if you still want to know why, you may read the rest of the review.

The film starts with an item number which brings no joy to the audiences.

Anyway, so once the film actually begins, it’s about a guy, Aditya, who works as a small-time executive and is flanked by his bearded best friend and his sick boss who likes chasing after much younger women. Then arrives the female lead, Sheetal, accompanied by her loud father.

Aditya gets married to Sheetal but that’s not enough. They need to impress her dad for which they need to buy a flat. And you know what’s strange?

Daddy dearest is left roaming on Mumbai’s streets and then put into bearded friend, Vicky's house, while they get a loan for the house. But acquiring a house wasn’t the end of all issues.

The couple has now moved into a strictly vegetarian society and it means trouble for the couple that survives on non-veg. food. They somehow manage to get the people from the society to follow their non-vegetarian food habits and preach about tolerance towards all kinds of food.

So, all in all, a pointless script coupled with bad performances makes it very easy for audiences to give this movie a miss. Thus it is absolutely not recommended.

Movie Review Of "Fruit and Nut"

Starring: Boman Irani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Dia Mirza and Cyrus Broacha
Directed by: Kunal Vijaykar
Rating: **

Kunal Vijaykar’s efforts to make a comedy film resulted in – a few funny jokes strung together to make a storyline. It promises to be a senseless comedy that will make you roll on the floor with laughter. Sadly, it only remains senseless and not funny enough to make you smile more than a time or two.

The story is about a simple man named Jolly Maker. He is a hardworking, middle class guy who is on the lookout for money, friends and love. He works for a corrupt builder named Khandar as his accountant. He makes a classic protagonist with being a nerd and un-cool along with being accident-prone.

Jolly Maker’s smart, pretty and sexy snob of a colleague, Monica, gets kidnapped under mysterious circumstances. A series of events lead Jolly Maker to a crazy Ex-Maharaja who plans on destroying Mumbai. The film is then all about if Jolly Maker is able to save Mumbai and find love.

While a lot of effort has been put into it by the director, the story doesn’t have a strong base. Performances by all the actors are fitting for the film.

Boman Irani and Mahesh Manjrekar have done a good job while Dia Mirza has been unnoticed as ever. And Cyrus Broacha carries on in his own wave, whether people like it or not. This film is not exactly a must-watch but not totally horrible either.

Movie Review Of "Kurbaan"

Singers: Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher, Marianne D'Cruz Aiman, Salim Merchant, Vishal Dadlani, Sonu Niigaam, Shruti Pathak and Shreya Ghoshal

Lyricist: Niranjan Iyengar

Music Directors: Salim Merchant-Sulaiman Merchant

Rating: *** 1/2

Salim-Sulaiman have slowly emerged as creators of amazing and impressive music. With their next album for the movie "Kurbaan", which has Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, they have proved their prowess yet again. The album boasts of songs that grow on you and are not typical.

There are five originals and one remix in the album.

"Ali maula", brilliantly sung by Salim Merchant himself, has a dark, edgy beginning. The slow-paced devotional number is impactful and has minimal musical arrangements.

The track also has a remixed version, which is faster and introduces more orchestration.

Up next is "Dua" - it exudes freshness and gets an edge with the vocals. Crooned by two very talented singers -- Sukhwinder Singh and Kailash Kher -- the song begins with English lyrics rendered by Marianne D'Cruz Aiman. It has strong musical backing and a qawwali touch, which makes it interesting.

Then comes title track "Kurbaan hua" that has Vishal Dadlani behind the mike. It reminds of "Nazara hai" from the film "8 x 10 Tasveer". Nonetheless, "Kurbaan hua" is a power-packed rock number that does create an impact.

Next is "Rasiya", which is the best song of the album. With the deep and extremely engaging voice of Shruti Pathak, the sensual number instantly strikes a chord with the listener. A semi-classical song like this has come in the forefront after a long time.

Finally there is a pleasing romantic number "Shukran allah" sung by Sonu Niigaam, Shreya Ghoshal and Salim Merchant. Its mellow arrangements make it a soothing and likeable song.

On the whole, the album is worth checking out. Salim-Sulaiman have done a great job yet again.

Movie Review Of "This Is It"

Cast: Michael Jackson
Director: Kenny Ortega
Rating: ***

This is it. The moment has arrived. For weeks there has been widespread speculation around the actual content of the musical documentary on Michael Jackson.

While director Kenny Ortega had announced that the film would give a sneak peek of Jackson's rehearsals for his concert series by the same name ("This Is It"), naysayers wondered if they would indeed get to see what was promised.

Conspiracy theories about a body double being used to make this film were all around as also that the movie "This Is It" was yet another means to cash in on the popularity of the legend who died June 25.

But this is not the case. The two-hour film features Jackson the way he was and there is no duplicate filling in for him. Yes, the horror of his failing health is pretty much visible in his weak body structure. However, what is certainly not missing is the man's energy, passion, determination and zeal to give it all to his fans.

"Love you all" and "God bless you" are mouthed frequently by the pop star who got his rehearsals captured on camera for his personal library. Now when the man is no more, these videos have been cut and edited to give audiences something to cheer about.

Seeing a parallel global release, the film captures Jackson in perhaps not his full glory since the spunk created in front of live audiences is always different from on-stage rehearsals.

However, what truly shocks is the fact that the man was pretty much alive, kicking and raring to go for his comeback concert. After seeing his moves, it is hard to believe that his health had deteriorated to such an extent that he met with a sudden death soon after.

"This Is It" is surely a treat for Jackson fans. For those who aren't, the film doesn't quite give any insight into the man's life since it is assumed that "This Is It" is mainly for those who were closely following his music and were prepared for the concert. So, if anyone is looking for a documentary on his life per se, then this really isn't it!

However, for those who were looking forward to the concert, this is not really a bad bargain. After all there are hit numbers like "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and many more that find a place in it. This becomes all the more interesting since Jackson comes up with new moves for these songs while making them further contemporary and presenting them to today's audiences.

The only thing that one misses as the film concludes is some more footage around comments from the people associated with the show. There are a few at the beginning but otherwise the film begins and ends like a concert video.

That was the intent of the feature for sure but it would have helped had audiences been given to know a little more about Michael Jackson - the man and not just Michael Jackson - the performer.

Movie Review Of "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani"

Singers: KK, Alisha Chinoy, Atif Aslam, Javed Ali, Kailash Kher, Neeraj Shridhar, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mika Singh, Hard Kaur, Soham, Rana Mazumdar, Ashish Pandit and Suzzane D Mello

Lyricist: Irshad Kamil

Music Director: Pritam Chakraborty

Rating: ***

"Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, is music director Pritam Chakraborty's eighth release this year and he has once again done a great job by composing music that is energetic, contemporary and pleasing.

"Aa jao meri tamanna" sung by Javed Ali is a breezy song. The combination of high and low pitch vocals gives this romantic number an edge. In short, it is sweet and hummable.

The song also has a remixed version, which is faster in pace. But the original is much better.

"Follow me" is a hip-hop number and has Hard Kaur behind the mike. It has a contemporary feel and Hard Kaur excels in what she does best - rap.

Next in line is "Main tera dhadkan teri", which is a power-packed song with vocals by three talented singers - KK, Sunidhi Chauhan and Hard Kaur. The energetic track has good musical backing.

The remixed version of "Main tera dhadkan teri" has nothing extraordinary to offer.

"Oh my god" sung by Mika Singh and Sunidhi doesn't impress much. It starts with the typical wedding music, but lacks punch and good lyrics.

Up next is "Prem ki naiyya", a confluence of rustic vocals and western music that has been crooned by Neeraj Shridhar and Suzzane D'mello. But this song does get a tad boring.

The remixed version too doesn't have anything new to offer.

"Tera hone laga hoon", another mushy offering by Pritam, is a song already popular on the radio and music channels. Sung by Atif Aslam and Alisha Chinoy, it starts with English lyrics and then graduates to Hindi. It's a beautiful, soothing love ballad that is well sung.

The remixed version has more beats and increased pace.

Finally there is the best song of the album - "Tu Jaana na". It has three versions apart from the original, which starts with a chorus. It's a soft song by Atif Aslam that instantly strikes a chord with the listener. The musical backing is neither too low nor too loud. The vocals are a plus for the song.

Next is the remixed version of the song, which is disappointing. The beats in the song seem to be forced and not properly placed.

Then we have the reprise version sung by Soham, Rana Mazumdar and Ashish Pandit. It is quite similar to the original song; only that the singers are different. Nonetheless, a nice version.

Finally there is the unplugged version, which is the best. Kailash Kher's voice takes the song to another level altogether. One can listen to this song again and again for its soul-stirring effect.

On the whole, the music of "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" is a must hear and has the potential to be on top of the charts.

Movie Review Of "Bal Ganesha 2"

More than half a dozen animated films released in 2008. However, most of them failed to make a mark, mainly because of sub-standard animation.

Now in 2009, comes the next instalment of "Bal Ganesha" and among all the animation films based on mythological themes, this is easily the best India has seen so far.

The sequel to "Bal Ganesha" has not really been promoted. But the animation is of high order, characters are fleshed out well, the story is interesting, the music is catchy and most important there are enough rib tickling moments that will keep kids rolling with laughter.

Cynics may compare the storytelling and animation of "Bal Ganesha 2" with that of Hollywood films.

Though "Bal Ganesha 2" may not be at the same level as its Hollywood counterparts, it does move in that direction.

Film maker Pankaj Sharma sets the entire team of narrators, a bunch of mice, in the present time and uses 'tapori' (street) language to make the narrative more crisp.

For those who missed the first instalment of "Bal Ganesha", there is a quick recap.

The film focuses on three stories, which are basically episodes from the life of Ganesha when he was a kid. These stories revolve around playing games with a cat, writing of Mahabharat and battling with a demon.

The stories all have twists in the end. They also have messages but thankfully that is not thrust down the throat of the audience.

It is clear that Sharma has understood the pulse of his target audience.

Also, the song "De Taali", which comes in the second half of the film is intelligently used to bring in a desired break between the stories.

Overall, "Bal Ganesha 2" is pretty good and deserves a watch.

Mahie Gill Found Very Difficult To Get A Place In Bollywood

Punjabi actress Mahie Gill, who made her mark in Bollywood as Paro in Anurag Kashyap's "Dev D", is on a high as her kitty is full of prestigious projects. However, the actress maintains that the road to success was not that easy.

"It is very difficult to create a place for yourself in the industry. I struggled my way through it. By chance Anurag saw me in a party and I got 'Dev D'; otherwise things wouldn't have shaped this way, " Mahie told here.

Talking about her days of struggle, she said: "When you dress up every morning, go for auditions and at the end of the day you don't get work, you feel bad. Sometimes you feel that you are better than the other person, still you don't get work. That's when you feel very frustrated. But one needs to be patient."

The actress was in the capital to attend the 11th Osian's-Cinefan Film Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema.

Her next release is Tigmanshu Dhulia's "Paan Singh Tomar". She teams up with Irrfan Khan in the film, which is scheduled for release in February next year.

Talking about "Paan Singh Tomar", Mahie said: In this film, I am playing Paan Singh Tomar's wife. He was an athlete who later became a dacoit. His wife is still alive. She is very old now. I am playing a woman who is very talkative and short tempered."

The actress had to darken her complexion for the role.

When asked about the experience of working with an actor like Irrfan, the 33-year-old said: "It was great working with Irrfan. He is such a wonderful actor."

As far as her future projects are concerned, she has signed two films to be made by Abhinav Kashyap. She is also doing Arbaaz Khan Productions' "Dabang" and a Saurabh Shukla film, which is tentatively titled "Bhaang".

Mahie has also signed a film with Naseeruddin Shah called "Surmai Shaam". It will be helmed by debutant director Bhramanand Singh. Then there is action film "Gulaab Gang" that also stars Tabu and Raveena Tandon.

After completing her masters in theatre, Mahie got her first break with Punjabi film "Havaayen" and then did couple of more like "Mitti Wajaan Maardi" and "Chakk De Phatte".

Asked if she would like to return to theatre, the actress said: "I really want to do theatre. Right now I don't get the time to do that, but some day I will definitely do it. I will be meeting Naseeruddin Shah very soon; so maybe one day I happen to do theatre with him."

Did Raja Chaudhary Bashed Up Shradha Sharma?

While Raja Chaudhary and Shradha Sharma in an interview to a Mumbai-tabloid spoke about their love for each other, the picture may not actually be so rosy after all.

Apparently the love story is just a publicity stunt to successfully garner media space for the sexy item girl.

It is true that the couple have been seeing each other for about 3 months and have been also almost living-in together and regularly hang out together.

Raja Chaudhary is also supposedly producing Shradha's video album and has been recommending her to all his producer friends.

However, a very knowledgeable source informs us that Raja and Shradha are putting on a brave face merely for media publicity to encash on the hype that bad boy Raja has found love and has turned a new leaf. Factually all is not well with the lovers.

Our source tells us that the couple have had a series of nasty fights where Raja has gone to the extent of bashing up Shradha Sharma more than once.

In one such brawl, Shradha was injured badly and had to stay indoors for about a week till the tell-tale brusises healed. Apparently Raja wants to marry and settle down while Shradha is not yet ready to tie the knot.

Even Raja's former astrologer who filed a molestation complaint against him was quoted saying that Raja is violent and beats up his new girl friend.

Also Raja has not been able to solve his drinking problem and has even led Shradha into the habbit.

At a recent party, a visibly drunk Raja and Shradha were seen sauntering out of the venue, drinking glasses in hand blissfully unmindful of all the media persons staring at them. Need we say any more?

Anthony D’Souza has got on John Abraham’s bad side.

The director has been going around telling the media that John will be working with him on Blue 2 as well as a film called Aerial where he will star opposite Sonal Chauhan. John denies even discussing any film with Anthony.

John has made it clear that it wasn’t right on Anthony’s part to spread false rumours like this. Anthony has apologized and said that he won’t mention John’s name in the media again.

John confirmed the news and stated that he doesn’t wish to be rude and he is touched that Anthony really wants to work with him. But he is not part of either Blue 2 or Aerial.

Try and get her to speak about her wedding plans and Shilpa chastises you again, “Why would I tell you that now?” But will it be this year, or the next, and how big will it be, if she’s got a dream wedding? “I will make an official announcement, like I did for my engagement.

There has to be a right time and place for everything, and I’m not talking, nazar lagti hai yaar! I understand that everyone’s really happy for me, but all I want to say is that I’m very happy, and we’ll make an announcement as soon as everything’s finalised.”

Hema Malini's Latest Play To Save Esha's Sinking Career

Hema Malini is doing everything she can to ensure her daughter Esha’s re-launch into Bollywood goes well. She has roped in four veteran cinematographers for shooting separate portions of the film’s four actors.

Grant Appleton, Hayk Kirakosyan, Carlos Catalan and Burak Turan are the four cinematographers who will be working on the film. Burak Turan will shoot Esha’s scenes with Rishi Kapoor in Turkey.

Vinod Khanna’s scenes will be shot in Rajasthan. The four cinematographers will give a distinct feel to each of the parts.

The plot for Tell Me Oh Khuda is very similar to Hema Malini’s previous directorial venture– Dil Aashna Hai.

When this was pointed out to the director of Tell Me Oh Khuda, Mayur Puri, he simply stated that both films are about a quest. He narrated three to four ideas to Hema Malini and she liked this one the most.

Sanjay Dutt Is On Knock Out Diet For Kangana Ranaut?

50-year Sanjay Dutt has been shooting with 20-something Kangana Ranaut.

And if they were looking super-compatible in spite of Dutt being half of Kangana’s age it’s all because of a special ketosis-based diet.

Says a source close to Dutt, “Sanjay went on this special diet in June. It required him to take lots and lots of fattie food and no carbohydrates at all.

In fact carbs would’ve been potentially lethal for this diet. In no time Sanjay started losing weight. And that too without Sanju having to give up his favourite food.”

Today Dutt is looking trimmer than he did ten years ago.And when he shot with Kangana last week the camera couldn’t tell their age difference.

Dutt plays an assassin out to get his victim with a sniper rifle in Knock Out.

Kangana Ranaut has always had a fascination for assassin heroes. She began her career with Gangster where her assassin-hero was the 30-plus Shiney Ahuja.

Now in Mani Shankar’s Knock Out she’s again attracted to the killer-hero, this time played by the 50-year old Sanjay Dutt. The two became professionally fond of one another while shooting for the comedy No Problem in Cape Town.

When Mani Shankar was looking for a bright intense young actress to play a television journalist it was Dutt who recommened Kangana.

Rohit Varma Faking Identity In Bigg Boss House?

'Rohit Verma is a well known designer in the fashion industry, ' states the Bigg Boss's official record but the truth according to the Delhi's fashion circuit's insiders is far from the claim. According to them Varma is actually a fashion choreographer and not a designer!

As per Sunil Sethi, president FDCI, Rohit is more of a fashion choreographer than a fashion designer and definitely he is not active in the Delhi fashion circuit.

It seems like designers too have turned their backs on Rohit. Charu Parashar, for instance said, "He claims to be a designer, but isn't one for sure."

Neil Admitd To Masturbation & Gay Lovemaking Scenes?

After blurring Neil Nitin Mukesh's frontal nude scene in Jail, Madhur Bhandarkar has now chopped the masturbation scene, well almost.

Tells Neil, "This quence was shot with 450 other actors present on the set. Frankly, if it was any other director, I'd have said no. But knowing the way Madhur depicts explicit sexual scenes, I said yes.

All the inmates are asleep when I do it. Now, most of the scene has been chopped off. But we still see the character doing it."

Although the scenes expose the reality, Madhur doesn't want to take any risk with the censor board and fall into any kind of controversy.

Neil also justifies the behaviour of his character by saying, "My nude or masturbation scenes are not for titillation. It's a very practical need in the script. My character is in Jail without sex for more than two years. What does he do? He naturally seeks pleasure by himself.

In the scene that we shot, my character fantasises about his girlfriend and gets his gratification. But honestly, after Madhur and I shot it, we found we had gone too far. It was too explicit. It was just not going with Indian aesthetics. So we decided to knock it off quite a bit by mutual consent. We just wondered if the flow of the narration would be hampered."

That's not only sexually explicit sequence Neil has participated in for Jail. "In one sequence, I go in the night to the bath and see one boy performing oral sex on another. I interrupt them and one of them says, 'You had to come and spoil the fun!' While we agreed to remove dialogue the scene of oral sex remains."

Ranbir Was Scared Walking Ramp With Katrina Kaif

Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif sashayed down the ramp at the grand finale of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) for designer Rohit Bal, bringing down the curtains of the five-day event in style.

Dressed in an embroidered white sherwani, Kapoor Wednesday night managed to steal the hearts of many girls in the audience, who couldn't stop gushing about the star's chocolaty looks. Pretty Katrina Kaif, attired in a short white dress, looked like a Barbie doll.

"I was pretty nervous to face the stage with a veteran model like Katrina. The idea of walking the ramp with her made me go blank every time I thought of it. It was she who led me beautifully to the stage making me feel comfortable with her," says Ranbir, who was here with Katrina to promote their film 'Ajab prem ki gajab kahani' set for release on November 6.

Another highlight of the show was a live performance by Orissa's Prince Dance Group that recently won the dance reality show "India's Got Talent".

Since Bal is always associated with grandeur, the sets reflected flamboyance and style. The glass ramp had gold lotus flowers underneath. The main show area was draped with golden curtains.

Complementing the ambience perfectly were the clothes that talked about the Mughal era when India was the land of maharajas (kings).

The collection was appropriately called Yasas, which means grand in Sanskrit.

Talking about his collection, Bal said: "The collection is a reflection of incredible talent that we have in India in terms of artisans and craftsmanship. The line is an ode to India's rich heritage."

"It is about India, which was once known as the 'Golden Peacock'. Through this line, I am bringing that golden era back to India," he added.

The collection had a mix of brocades, velvets in the pre-Mughal and Mughal designs like long and short anarkalis, sherwanis, jodhpuri pants, dresses and long coats.

The collection will also be retailed through Wills Lifestyle outlets across India.

Unfair Attribute Of Katrina's Success?

Jacqueline Fernandez, who is making her debut as an actor with Aladin, tells JYOTHI VENKATESH that Katrina Kaif is not what she is today just because of Salman Khan.

How would you describe your role in Aladin?
I play the role of a very sweet and normal college girl called Jasmine in Aladin. She is not a princess like in the fable. Jasmine is not some one who has a distinct personality.

Jasmine possesses the qualities of a princess in a fairy tale, though she is not a princess in Aladin. I did feel a little bit of pressure because people know who Jasmine is and I’d have to live up to the expectations.

Luckily I had no comparisons. I had to set a standard for Jasmine. That way it was a challenge for me.

Do you think it has been very easy for you to bag your break?
To be honest, I have been extremely lucky. I think I have my own genie who has granted me my wishes. There are many talented young girls who find it very difficult to get a break in Bollywood. I am indeed because within just a month of my coming to Mumbai, I succeeded in getting my big break and now have my foot in the door.

How did you bag Aladin?
I did go for an audition for Aladin. I should confess that it was my first and worst audition. In fact, I thought that it would be the last time that I had faced the camera. I messed up my lines and giggled.

The casting director asked me to talk about a happy and sad event in my life. I guess I sounded true when I narrated my sad moment, because I tried to be true to the character. I was told that I was on board the film the same evening.

How did you prepare for your part?
The brief that I got from director Sujoy Ghosh was that I should not try to get too much into my character but just be natural. I do not think I prepared for the role. I prepared for the scenes, read the script many times day and night and did the rehearsals.

Considering that you are a Sri Lankan national, how were you influenced by Bollywood?
It may sound clichéd, but the fact is that right from the age of 7, I wanted to be an actress.

I should confess that I have been influenced a lot by Bollywood, because I used to make it a point to watch all Bollywood films, in addition to International films, since Sri Lankan films were never shown in Bahrain. I grew up in Bahrain and moved to Panipitiya outside Colombo, where my parents stay, after schooling.

How would you compare Bollywood with Hollywood?
I do not know how to compare Bollywood with Hollywood. All that I can say is that I chose to make my debut in Bollywood with a film like Aladin. Bollywood stands on its own with its different way of sending out message to the public.

In terms of emotions, acting is difficult. Bollywood is a little more emotional than Hollywood because the actors are blessed here to have the chance to let themselves loose and touch the hearts of the people.

How was the experience of sharing the screen with an actor like Amitabh Bachchan?
Just to be in the same frame as Mr Amitabh Bachchan was more than what I could have asked for. Riteish told me that he had spent his entire life to be with Mr Bachchan, whereas I was lucky to have had the opportunity to be withy him in my very first film.

Mr Bachchan has been my source of inspiration from day one, because I learnt by being in his orbit. Mr Bachchan is very polite and kind but probably opens up only when he knows a person better.

Are you scared that you may be slotted as a foreign actress?
I am scared but, I hope that I am not slotted because I want to be different. If you are just perceived as a foreigner, you tend to get limited chance because there will be the tendency to cast you as a NRI or a modern day woman. It is always a big challenge for an actor to essay different roles.

To what extent, are you game for exposure as an actress?
I think there is a very fine thin line between exposure and over exposure. You, as an actor have to judge what suits you. I have absolutely no problem at all as far as exposure is concerned, if it justifies the role. In that case, I would be ready to do what it takes to take the message to the audiences.

How did you find Sujoy Ghosh as a director?
Sujoy is wonderful. I love the relationship that he shares with his actors. I love his spirit and the positivity which he brings on the sets. What I like about him as a director is that he does not at all shout and is very relaxed. His nature rubs off on his actors and brings life to the sets.

Do you think Katrina has set the trend of foreign actresses making it big in Bollywood?
Yes. Katrina has proved every one wrong by being an example of a hard working woman who is dedicated and passionate to her work. I do not think she is today what she is just because of Salman Khan.

It will be unfair to attribute her success to Salman Khan. Why would a director invest millions of rupees for the sake of Salman Khan in Katrina? Kat brings in so much into the table.

What is your role in Jaane Kahan Se Aaye Ho Tum?
I play the role of an alien in Jaane Kahan Se Aaye Ho Tum. I come from Venus and crash land into Riteish’s arms. It is a very sweet story. I play a girl who comes in search of true love. Since Riteish also has been in search of true love all his life in the film, together we set out on our crazy journey to find out love.

Have you found out your true love in life?
All that I can state is life is too spontaneous to be able to make a plan and hence I take life as it comes along.

Katrina Kaif What Is Behind Salman Asin Rivalry?

While Asin claims to be having cordial relationship with Salman Khan, media is abuzz the news of their friendship turning sour. During the shooting of ‘London Dreams' the chemistry that the on-screen couple shared had become the talk of the town. But recently Salman Khan has been spotted ignoring the actress to the core.

So much so that the eternal bad-boy of Bollywood even refused to acknowledge her presence at a press conference held for the promotion of their flick. Avoiding the actress, Salman walked away from the interview leaving Asin all alone to face media persons.

The reason for Salman ignoring Asin is because their friendship was under constant scrutiny of the media, leading to rumours of a link-up, which was affecting his relationship with Katrina Kaif.

According to a source, "Asin reached the studio at 1pm as scheduled. Salman was unwell as the previous day, he had been to Kolkata where he contracted an allergy. His face was swollen and he had a runny nose. Hence, he was not very comfortable doing the interviews and requested the media guys to reschedule it, but continued to chat with them.

Asin was aware that the joint interviews won’t happen, but she refused to move. It was evident that she wanted to meet Salman. She came over from Studio no. 5 to Studio no. 6 to sit beside Salman.

To everyone’s surprise there, Salman did not even greet her. In fact, he completely ignored her. She sat there for sometime but Salman simply refused to speak to her. Then he got up and left. Asin had no option but to leave after that. She was left wondering what went wrong between the two ‘friends’."

The news has been denied by Asin who said that they are traveling together and attending the premiere in the same limo.

Blue 2 Is Coming Soon?

With Blue already making waves at the box-ffice, Anthony D'Souza's has just got one more reason to smile. A sequel to the film is in the offing and is being planned on a much bigger scale.

Blue actor Sanjay Dutt told a tabloid that they will be starting with the sequel immediately. "It was a thrilling experience shooting for Blue in the Bahamas. Tony (director) is ready with the idea for Blue 2 and he has promised that there will be more sharks and action in the sequel," says Sanjay.

The actor went on to tell of the trials and tribulations over the shooting of the original.

"For me, Blue was an extremely difficult film to shoot. The same goes for the director Anthony D'Souza. Hats off to the producer who believed in the film and invested so much money in it. I don't know about others but I had a tough time while shooting as I was scared when I saw 50 sharks around me."

We hear that the sequel will be shot in Australia and will have one more key male actor other than Akshay Kumar, Sanjay and Zayed Khan. While Blue has several sharks, its sequel will have deadlier sharks such as Great Whites and Bull Sharks.

Amitabh Bachchan's Sting Interview?

In his latest blog, cine icon Amitabh Bachchan has criticised a prominent tabloid for not doing justice to an interview it took with him in the first week of his 67th birthday.

According to Bachchan, the Executive Editor of the Mumbai tabloid Mid-Day, Abhijit Majumder had sought an interview with the actor to mark his birthday, his 40 years in Bollywood, and the launch of Bigg Boss 3.

Bachchan, says he was initially willing to do an interview only by e-mail, but relented to give a face-to-face interview.

The interview was published and, Bachchan complains on his blog that "it did not do justice to the responses I had given".

What was surprising, says Bachchan, is that a video clip of the interview appeared on Mid-Day's website.

He Writes:

"I had never expected either the paper or any one else to have posted something which I would be unaware of. Now realise why Mr. Majumdar wanted a personal meeting.

He had placed a small "sting" camera on the table in front of me, without informing me that the interview was being video taped as well. He never told me that they had a video net facility in operation and that the recorded interview would find a place there."

Bachchan accuses the editor of dishonesty and says the reason he had sought a one-on-one interview was with the "malafide intent of recording the interview to be used as a live input on a video electronic facility medium that your paper runs."

Majumder has hit back in the paper, printing a photograph of the actor sitting comfortably in front of the "sting" camera, and charging the actor of introducing a new word into journalism: a "sting of one's own legitimate interview".

Majumder says he had mentioned to Bachchan in the presence of the paper's photographer and two unknown gentlemen who also seemed to be videotaping it, that the interview would be recorded on audio and video; that he had asked the actor's secretary if he could bring along a photographer and somebody to video-record the interview.

'Either you are lying or I am. I would like to believe it is neither; it's just your memory playing tricks at twilight,' Majumder said.

Salman Khan's Big Fan?

Two days after the tepid response to the latest Salman starrer Main Aurr Mrs Khanna its shell-shocked debutant director Prem R. Soni was bracing himself to be written off as one-film wannabe-wonder.

Salman Khan restored Prem’s trust in his abilities when on Sunday night at a private family gathering, he embraced the shaken director and announced, “No matter what people say about Khanna you are doing our next film.”

Relieved beyond belief Prem Soni is now a bigger Salman fan than ever before. “The way Main Aurr Mrs Khanna has been received I thought no one would want to touch me with a bargepole. So many announcements go down the drain if the first film doesn’t work.”

Relieved, Soni is still bewildered by the savage response to his maiden effort. “It was almost as if we made the worst film on this earth. I could smell the resentment against the film. There was definitely an attempt to write it off on the day of release.”

Salman who had just delivered a grand hit in Wanted showed his full faith in Main Aurr Mrs Khanna.

Says the director, “He completely believed in my film and his character. But since he was already so visible for Wanted we decided to go easy on the publicity for Mrs Khanna. We were wrong. This was a different Salman and a different film. Not that aggressive promotion helps. But aggressive anti-publicity surely damaged my film.”

Whatever the response to the film at home Main Aurr Mrs Khanna has been warmly received in Australia where the film is set and where a number of prominent Hindi films have been lately shot.

Says Prem Soni, “Melbourne is not just a location in my film. It’s one of the characters in the plot.Has anyone commented on how hard we worked on getting the locations right? Main Aurr Mrs Khanna is the first Indian film to be shot on an international airport. When I wrote my script a major part of drama was situated on an international airport.”

Salman, Sohail and Soni were very clear on the fact that they wanted to shoot on an international airport. “We didn’t wanto to erect a set depicting an airport. A set looks like a set no matter how authentic.

I made contact with the authorities at several airports. We had the choice of shooting on the airport in three cities Geneva, New York and Melbourne. We chose Melbourne because after much discussion they offered us the best deal.”

And shooting on the bustling international airport in Melbourne was allowed absolutely free of cost. “Can you imagine? All we were told was to shoot in the nights when the air traffic was less dense.

We paid nothing and we got complete and free acess to shoot in the most restricted areas on the airport. We shot in an area past the immigration, so any of us could take an unauthorized flight to any part of the world.

But all of us Kareena, Salman, Sohail, Yash Tonk, Nauheed Cyrusi and Bappi Lahiri, were very careful of our responsibility. We had been given a huge privilege and a diplomatic immunity. It wasn’t just us. It was India’s reputation at stake.”

Sighs Soni, “Has anyone noticed that Main Aurr Mrs Khanna is the only film to be shot on an airport since Steven Spielberg’s The Terminal? It’s so easy and so much fun to be clever at a film’s expense.”

Shahrukh Khan Exit & Ranbir Entered?

Aditya Chopra is all set to don the director's hat once again and guess what, there is no SRK is his film this time around.

Replacing the Badshah will be YRF's new blue-eyed boy Ranbir Kapoor,, who has already delivered a hit like Bachna Ae Haseeno and also working in their another forthcoming film 'Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year'.

According to sources, Aditya was keen to direct Dhoom 3 however they didn't finalise a script that Aditya was keen enough to direct. Even Yashji was scheduled to direct a film after Veer-Zaara but that too did not work out.

When Adi realised that Dhoom 3 is not working out as expected and Shah Rukh is already busy with Don 2 and Farah Khan's film Happy New Year, he wrote this fresh young love story, just like DDLJ. Ranbir fits the bill perfectly and the two are good friends.

The rest of the details are yet to be finalised. The film will go on the floors early next year.

Lewd Mob Harassed Kangana Ranaut?

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is in Lucknow to shoot for a film, was harassed by a group of hooligans in the Kaiserbagh locality of the city.

Kangana is here with co-stars R. Madhavan and Jimi Shergil for the past 10 days to shoot for Anand L. Rai's "Tanu weds Manu".

The incident took place Sunday at the Lal Baradari building where the cast and crew were shooting a sequence for the film around 10 p.m. It was a holiday, so a huge crowd, over 2,000, gathered around the location.

"It was horrible. A group of youngsters came very close to Kangana, Madhavan and Jimi and started passing lewd comments about her. Some of them also tried to touch Kangana," a crew member told.

However, the police denied the allegations.

"Keeping in view the huge gathering, we had deployed entire force of about four police stations at the Lal Baradari. The director, however, complained that due to the crowd they were having problems in shooting as people were coming into the frames," inspector K.M. Singh of Kaiserbagh police station told.

No police complaint has been lodged.

"We will surely register an FIR if anyone from the crew approaches us with a formal complaint," Singh said.

Rai, who had earlier directed the thriller "Strangers" starring Jimi and Kay Kay Menon, is scheduled to film "Tanu weds Manu" in Kanpur, Faridkot, Patiala and New Delhi in the coming days.

Sushmita Sen Is Busy For Doing Nothing?

She had no release in 2008 and this year she featured in two duds -- "Karma, Confessions and Holi" and "Do Knot Disturb", but beauty queen-turned-actress Sushmita Sen insists her absence from the limelight has been due to her busy schedule courtesy her ventures.

"I am basically a very busy person. I am just the sort of person who is constantly delving into different things and wetting my palms to see what all interests me and I have been mostly outside the country shooting for my films, " said Sushmita.

"I have also been keeping busy with the dubs and promotion of my films. I have also been working around my other companies so that I could have a very fulfilling year, " she added.

Her future film projects include "Dulha Mil Gaya" and "No Problem".

Priyanka Is Agreed To Work With Harman! Why?

Priyanka Chopra says she gives importance to script and not her co-stars while choosing a film. That is why she agreed to work with Hurman Baweja in "What's Your Rashee?".

She did "Kaminey" with Shahid Kapoor when all wasn't hunky dory with him and she is also pairing up with yet another flop actor Uday Chopra in her next film "Pyaar Impossible".

"The scripts work for me. 'Kaminey' has proved right - it's proved to be a huge success for being such a different film. It's tremendously successful and that goes to show the importance of a story, " she said.

"It's the content of a film which is most important and I honestly go with my instincts when I choose a film and that is what has always worked for me.

"Even 'Pyaar Impossible' is about a geek who is in love with a girl he is scared to even talk to and how these two people get together. I just pick films based on whether the content is different or not, " she added.

Kareena Kapoor Is Not Of A Zero Size

Her younger sister Kareena is known for her yoga obsession, but actress Karisma Kapoor, who is a mother of one and expecting a second, says she prefers the "gym and a walk" unlike her sibling.

"Kareena is the yoga endorser (of our family). She gets after us to do yoga. But I am not so much into yoga as she is. She has really taken to it and it's a great form of exercise but I prefer the gym, " Karisma told.

"I live a healthy lifestyle. I eat well, but I exercise and do everything in moderation. I go to the gym or for a walk and that's it for me, " she added.

Asked about her comments on Kareena's much-hyped size-zero figure, the 35-year-old asserted: "I don't think there's any size zero. I genuinely feel that Kareena just lost all her baby fat. She made herself fit and got the cuts that her body has. She just worked at getting that and has been able to bring that out."

Ajay Devagan Was Running Around Like The Madman?

Ajay Devgn has suddenly become far more accessible affable and voluble says he has been running around “like a madman” juggling several projects and hats.

“I was in Bhopal shooting for Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti which was a completely different experience from shooting All The Best in Goa. Then I also completed London Dreams which is a third experience.”

Interestingly in both All The Best and London Dreams Devgn had to overcome his stage fright to go on stage in front of thousands of people to play a rock star for a live audience. “It was an unnerving experience.

So many people screaming and shouting trying to get your attention. Every day I am learning new things about myself. That’s the only way to keep my interest as an actor and the audiences’ interest in me alive.

How would you like if you had to interview the same person every day? It’s like that only. You’ve to keep changing the caller tune on your lifeline.”

All The Best which opened this week is taking Devgn to far-flung places. “Half the time I don’t know where I am. Nowadays promoting a film has become as important as making it.”

Amrita Rao Is One Of The Most Desirable Girls?

Bollywood actress Amrita Rao, who had been ill due to long hours of shooting, has hired superstar Shah Rukh Khan's trainer to get back in shape, said a source close to her.

"Amrita wants to lose weight. She has been asked to go on a complete health diet comprising fruits and boiled vegetables as she is required to look completely fit, " said the source.

The 28-year-old actress who played the coy beauty in films like Vivaah and Ishq Vishq went for a glamorous makeover for Shortcut and she continues to sizzle on the cover of Maxim's October issue.

"Gracing the cover of India's largest selling men's magazine was a fantastic opportunity and it just goes to show that I am one of the most desirable actors in tinsel town," said Rao in a press statement.

Amrita is also said to be mastering kick boxing and aerobics these days.

Katrina Kaif's 3rd Hera Pheri

Producer Firoz Nadiadwala is relieved. The third part to the Hera Pheri series is finally set to be made.

The third part will have Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal coming together yet again.

This time, the heroine of the film will be Katrina Kaif and it will be directed by Anees Bazmee, unlike the previous two films that were directed by Priyadarshan and Neeraj Vohra respectively.

The film will be called Hera Pheri 4 instead of 3. The reason for doing so will be given in the promos of the film when it is ready.

Akshay Kumar was earlier having date issues but he managed to fit in Hera Pheri into his schedule anyhow. Meanwhile, he is going to be seen with Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal in De Dana Dan.

Is Salman Really Not A Bad Boy

How did London Dreams happen?
I was still shooting for Ghajini but Vipul had seen some of my South Indian films. So I got a call from him and he said he had a role of a headstrong talented girl in his next directorial venture after Namastey London.

Obviously I was excited at the sound of it! (laughs) I love Vipul’s cinema, he showcases emotions really well and his films always have strong music. So it was actually a no-brainer that I wanted to be a part of this project immediately on hearing its script. In a way, this is my first authentic Bollywood film even though Ghajini released first.

That's because I had already played Kalpana in the south version of Ghajini before doing the Hindi remake with Aamir (Khan).

Tell us the experience of working with Vipul Shah!
Fabulous! Vipul is very organized, he does his homework really well so when you reach the sets the shot break downs are done, he knows exactly how he wants the scene done. And I am a complete Director’s actor.

It’s important for me to understand my director’s vision and in that sense Vipul is very giving. I’ve been spoilt by him because now I think I will always want all shoots to be as planned! (Smiles)

Tell us something about your character in London Dreams?
I play a south Indian girl, Priya, who is emotional but strong willed and ambitious at the same time. And she has two radically different sides to her.

At home she’s a traditional girl clad in Indian outfits but the minute she’s out with friends, she’s a fire brand, and that shows in the way she dresses. And she’s also partly responsible for the conflict between Salman and Ajay’s characters. So it was a wholesome character to play.

This is the first time you’re working with big names like Salman Khan & Ajay Devgn. What was that like?
When I came on to the sets of London Dreams I didn’t know them. I knew they were way senior and was anxious just like any newcomer would understandably be.

And then I'd heard so much about them from different people. Salman has a ‘bad boy’ image. Many told me that he was very temperamental and erratic! Having worked with him I dispelled all those myths. I got to see a sensitive actor who had an absolute ball on the sets and went out of his way to make everyone comfortable.

Both Ajay & Salman are also great offscreen friends and that shows on celluloid. Ajay, contrary to popular belief, was not reticent at all. He was very helpful and friendly!

I realised that you find out the truth about people only when you work with them and get to know them better.

Tell us about the music of London Dreams!
Oh! There’s so much that I can say! (smiles) London Dreams has a backdrop of a rock band so it’s only right that the music should be an arterial part of the film. And I think that Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy have done complete justice to the film in that sense.

The music is melodious but remains true to the essence of the film. It’s a very holistic album - there’s the masti of Punjab and the edge of contemporary music. I personally love Man Ko Ati Bhaave and Tapke Masti; they’re fun songs!

Everyone is waiting for London Dreams with bated breath. Tell us why we should watch it?
It's an absolutely stunning looking commercial entertainer with emotions, humour, music and drama! It's a big one for the families!

We had a blast shooting it in the UK and I took back some really fond memories with me. The fantastic time we had on the sets and the chemistry between all of us will show on screen!
